Go Walkeez makes heritage engagement fun, active and talkative for the whole family.
Go Walkeez is a child-centered family cultural engagement product and experience. With the help of a waggy friend, Go Walkeez makes heritage engagement fun, active and talkative for the whole family.
How does it work?
All it takes is to take a Go Walkeez dog for a ‘culture walk’. Curious by nature, the dogs want to see cool art. The job of the good dog walker, is to spot things that spark interest and take a “sniffie” shot (kinda like “selfies”) of the dog investigating the great finds. Once the walk is over, the dog is returned and the sniffie shots are discussed to revisit the awesome cultural experience the family experienced.
It is a project to nurture shared experiences between children and adults through a fun, interactive and collaborative experience.
How do I take part?
Go Walkeez is ran as a workshop-style experience in collaboration with museums and other heritage institutions.
What is the inspiration behind Go Walkeez?
The project was inspired by my belief that heritage plays an important role in informing us of our individual and shared values. I firmly believe that heritage has a genuine potential to enhance our lives and ground us with emotional and intellectual anchor. These attributes are important as they help to shape our world-views, adopt new ways of thinking, and mediate our differences.
How did it start?
Go Walkeez began as a Communication Design project for my Master’s degree. I saw a family where the boy and his parents were in the same space, but were not looking or talking or sharing the experience. I wanted to introduce design as a way for families to come together and share a mutually enriching experience.
Since then, it evolved into a PhD project and have gathered numerous awards and recognitions. Go Walkeez dogs have travelled to Europe, US and Japan.
Sharing the Same Space and Experience
